The Leamington Housing Project in Leamington, Ontario was built using Amvic ICFs. Sixteen units are each 7,500 square feet for a total of 120,000 square feet. Leamington has the largest number of greenhouses in North America, and this first-of-its-kind project in Canada created rental units for the 5,000 migrant workers who are hired each year. Multiple units were assembled in different phases to use other aspects of building such as pumps for the concrete, precast for the floors, trusses, and mechanical installation. There were no less than three units being poured at any given time. All below-grade and above-grade exterior and interior demising walls are ICF. Building height and coursing were designed to minimize cut-offs and waste generation on site. ICF construction allowed for an extremely energy-efficient building and also allowed for progress throughout the winter months.
