SMK Custom B2 .177 cal (tuned) air rifle

Bought a .177 cal SMK Custom B2 from someone in the UK, hardly used, merely a few hardly noticable stock dings/scratches. Previous owner hasn't used it much, I suspect he took a few shots and had put it aside. It was still dieseling a bit. Did chrony the rifle using the Powa Pells I bought from JB during last year's Oddball. Stripped the rifle and asked WelshWilly from http://www.woodfield-gcp.co.uk to sell me a few custom parts: delrin slip washers and powerbands and a new piston seal. These B2's are easy and fast to take apart end re-assemble. First tried to push the action down on the bench and insert the trigger pin but it's a bit troublesome that way to allign things propperly. Using a clamp it's child's play, whilst the action is clamped down the trigger pin can be pushed out a bit and after that pulled out by hand on the other side, no other tools needed. Inserting the piston I use a thin dowel to push the piston seal down while passing the slots. The factory piston seal wasn't a real tight fit though, might explain the piston slam, not very bad but it was noticable. Fitted the new piston seal, while inserting it into the tube I noticed a bit more resistance which I had hoped for. Tweaked the factory spring: removed the nasty sharp edges from the spring ends and polished the spring ends. A bit of moly on the spring and a bit of moly dry slide on the piston. Tried several set-ups w. the delrin parts, decided to use only one powerband on the spring guide, the shot strings are looking very nice now, did take abt 50 unrecorded shots first to allow the parts to bed in. Shoots with a nice thud now and after about 50 shots started recording a few shot strings. Quite please with the results. Not looking for power, 8 fpe'ish and it stays a friendly rifle to shoot. Tested grouping 5 meters in the workshop, cheap flatheads sprayed a bit, Superdomes are spot on, five shots all touching... A lot of people complain these B2's are cheap and nasty, this one isn't, it's a lovely little rifle. I hope this video inspires other owners to give their B2's a bit of TLC. Even though B2's are amongst the cheapest air rifles on the market they are good for a lot of fun shooting. Please take good care of your B2's, store them indoors, wipe them off with an oily cloth after use, and apply a drop of oil on all external moving parts every now and then.
