At TEDxTwenteU, Thomas Meijer talks about the project he and his team are working on. The aim of this project is to lower the use of antibiotics by creating a smart bandage capable of preventing infections. This is done in a revolutionary way by genetically engineering microbes and enclosing them in the bandage. Thomas Meijer Is a Molecular Biology & Biotechnology student at the University of Groningen. With eleven other students, he started a project tackling a modern problem with the aid of synthetic biology. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
