Iran Claims Missile Strike on USS Abraham Lincoln | US Denies Attack in Gulf of Oman | News9

A fresh war of claims has emerged between Iran and the United States after Tehran said its naval forces struck a US aircraft carrier with ballistic missiles and drones. According to a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, a precision operation targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) about 340 kilometres from Iran’s maritime borders in the Gulf of Oman. Iranian state television claimed the strike forced the carrier and its accompanying strike group to retreat from the area at high speed, though no evidence or details of damage were provided. However, US officials have strongly rejected the allegation. The United States Central Command said the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group remains fully operational and continues to support Operation Epic Fury. CENTCOM also released a photograph of the aircraft carrier, stating it continues to project power from the sea.
