Shelter Together: Khmer classical dancer Mea Lath performs from her home in Long Beach

Reaksmey Lath was a 2011 ACTA apprentice under mentor artist Charya Burt in Cambodian classical dance, and she is now a dance instructor at the Khmer Arts Academy in Long Beach, CA. In this episode of Shelter Together, Mea shares two dances from the classical repertoire: Robam Tayae, one of the most sacred dances in the Cambodian classical dance repertory portraying a princess who makes a pilgrimage to pray for the people and land, and Robam Buong Suong, a prayer dance to pay respects to the heavenly deities when there is drought, poor harvest season, war or social unrest in the nation.
