Allahabad HC wants to curb 'misuse' of anti-dowry law, says FIR shouldn't be 'soft porn'

The Allahabad high court Monday issued guidelines to prevent “misuse” of Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalises cruelty inflicted on a woman by her husband and his kin, in view of a “growing tendency in the masses to nail the husband and all family members by general and sweeping allegations”. However, the Supreme Court had set aside similar guidelines in 2018.
