Black ants have tunneled into it. Do you think expanding foam could be used to repair it? 5) I have been a beekeeper since 1998. I've been involved in various clubs and seminars, and I'm pretty well educated about keeping honey bees. I would think of myself as a Master Beekeeper. Question, what certification makes a Master Beekeeper? 6) I have one hive and will be adding a second one. Question, how far apart should they be? 7) I purchased Bettercomb to support two nucleus hives we are to receive in mid June. Are some of the bettercomb cells larger for drone brood? Should we add regular frames with foundation to provide a space for drone production? This is what BetterComb is: Do not use toothpicks, always use the wire support or it will droop/sag. • Better Comb by BetterBee (Review), FAQ 32,... 8) I have one hive that is particularly aggressive. It is my largest and most established hive. I replaced the queen. Even after 30 days, they are still aggressive. What could possibly be going on? 9) What would happen if you were to combine a laying worker hive with a healthy hive? 10) If a swarm already has a queen, why would they go to a QMP noodle? 11) Is the High Price of Apimaye hives worth it? 12) Is a 5 QT Crock Pot a good size for a 3 Hive Setup? If so, what are the steps for processing wax with bee parts? This is the fryer that I use for wax rendering: https://amzn.to/3pbMnDG (This is an affiliate link) if you don't want to use it, just google search: National Presto Presto 06009 10-quart Kitchen Kettle XL steamer Multi-Cooker, Black 13) Is juicing water melon or plumbs and feeding this to the bees rather than Sugar Syrup more natural for the bees? Will it be less inclined to cause dysentery? 1 Cup of Watermelon Juice = 14 grams of sugar 14 grams of sugar = 3 table spoons of dry processed sugar There are 16 table spoons of sugar in 1 cup of 1:1 Sugar Syrup. BACKYARD TEST: Put watermelon juice in one container, and plumb juice in another, and in a third identical container, put 1:1 sugar syrup out. See what the bees go for first and most often. 14) I purchased a 5-Frame Nucleus Hive in April. Bees seem to be doing great. I've done sugar shakes and drone mite counts with zero mites. Should I treat with OAV anyway, since it doesn't seem to hurt the bees? 15) Have you experimented with headlamps to better find larvae in foundation? My hives are shady and my eyes aren't getting any better. The head gear I wear to see details inside "observation hives" can be found right here: At under $20.00 these are the most popular head magnifiers by far - https://amzn.to/3CywRVj magnification with light. Perfect for observation hives, not so great if you're wearing a beekeeping veil. (this is an affiliate link) I may earn from qualifying purchases.
