Finally I am in Finland! My first time here, a new country on the list. My goal for Finland is to head south quickly so I can get on a boat to Estonia and continue descending to warmer places. I’ve always wanted to visit Finland but with a horrible storm forecast I’m not totally confident that I’m going to have the best time. I’m excited to soak up the autumn atmosphere in my first east of Europe country! For some reason unknown to me, despite my enthusiasm to be visiting a country that’s been on my list for a long time, I was hit with a wave of low mood on the ferry across. The blues stuck with me for the duration of my stay, I think loneliness has caught up with me. I can enjoy empty roads, cold weather and creepy derelict buildings, but after a while the absence of anything that is actually cheerful has dragged my mood down. Try as I might to disguise it, I think my boredom and bad mood is evident.
