When I was a kid, my metalhead big brother had an original Distortion+. I didn't like it because I didn't get it. Much later I bought one myself and loved it… but then, not for the first or last time, sold it because I'm a knob-end. The bright yellow version available today uses silicon instead of germanium transistors (I think?), and sounds meh. But a few years ago MXR brought out this proper reissue of the classic mustard box.
