Dream Catcher -- A Poem By AnaGirlEmpath

This is a poem I wrote a while ago, exploring the way our mind works in response to trauma, and how grateful I am that there are moments of calm; of peace; when imagination and escapist coping mechanisms engage and carry us away from our pain and suffering. In moments like these, I am able to have some respite from the negative thoughts and memories of cruel and brutal past experiences. A Dream Catcher is a woven web talisman used by Native Americans to "catch" bad dreams. I refer analogously to the conscious embodiment of this process; if a Dream Catcher were a Divine Entity, this is how I imagine S/he would work.
