Learn the art of bringing characters and stories to life in Mohawk College's Animation Advanced Diploma program in Ontario. This 3-year program provides a solid foundation in performance animation, visual communication, concept generation, 2D and 3D image construction, and filmic storytelling. Through hands-on exercises, assignments, and collaborative projects, you'll gain experience in all aspects of animation as a storytelling art. You'll use hand-drawn and CG processes, including idea generation, planning, modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and animating with industry-standard software. Our program content is enhanced through consultation with leading industry professionals on our Program Advisory Committee, including Rex Grignon (Pixar, Dreamworks), David Soren (DreamWorks), Victoria Neal (Pipeline Studios), Evan Bonifacio (Incredibles 2, Brave), David Pietila (Brownbag Films), Lavio Fidelis (Ubisoft Toronto), and Joe Giampapa (House of Cool Inc.). What You'll Learn: Pre-production skills: Writing, figure drawing, traditional drawing for concepts and storyboards. Production skills: Performance animation, digital construction, rigging, texturing, lighting, camera, rendering, and editing. Experience with industry-standard hardware and software. Real-world industry production work practices. Understanding the business of art.
