Ghana. The Sitting was jointly presided over by Rt. Hon. Usman Adam, Speaker of the Fifth Parliament of the Youth Impact Parliament (YIP) Ghana of the Youth Impact Movement (YIM), and Rt. Hon. Jones Amegashie-Viglo, Speaker of the Second Parliament of the Youth Government System (YGS) of IYNUNSCR2250, Ghana. The Joint Sitting was honoured by the presence of 👨👩👦👦 Hon. Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, 📜 Member of Parliament for Ho Central, 9th Parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana. whose participation reinforced the importance of youth participation in governance, democratic leadership, and policy engagement. On Sunday, January 11, 2026, the Fifth Parliament of the Youth Impact Parliament (YIP) Ghana under the Youth Impact Movement (YIM) and the Second Parliament of the Youth Government System (YGS) of the International Youth Network on UNSCR 2250 held a Joint Parliamentary Sitting at the HTU SRC JCR Auditorium in Ho. The sitting marked the First Sitting of the Second Session of the Fifth YIP Parliament and the Fifth Sitting of the First Session of the Second YGS Parliament. Proceedings were jointly presided over by the Speaker of the YIP Parliament, Rt. Hon. Usman Adam, and the Speaker of the YGS Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jones Amegashie-Viglo. The Table Office was managed by Miss Wilhelmina Okutu (Clerk, YIP) and Miss Vanessa Dela Mensah (Acting Clerk, YGS), with the procession led by Mr. Amen Yayra Manoutche, Acting Marshal of the Joint Parliament. The Guest of Honour was Hon. Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, MP for Ho Central Constituency in the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. Following opening prayers, Speakers’ communications, introductions of Youth MPs, and the adoption of the Joint Business Committee Statement, the House proceeded with public business. For YIP, Parliament nominated leadership for the YIP Forum of Women Parliamentarians pursuant to the YIP Forum of Women Parliamentarians Act, 2025 (Act 1). Hon. Kendell Elizabeth Mantey was approved as Chairperson for 2026, while Hon. Mrs. Mary Dugbaza was approved as Vice Chairperson (Actions). Both were duly sworn into office. For YGS, the House filled the vacancy in the Office of the Second Deputy Speaker following a resignation. On nomination by the Minority Leader and in accordance with Standing Orders, Hon. Charles Adonu, Youth MP for Ho West, was declared elected, robed, and immediately assumed office. The Guest of Honour addressed the House, reflecting on his first year as a first-term MP, sharing insights into parliamentary processes, committee work, constituency engagement, and public service. The Speakers congratulated him on successfully completing his first year of his four-year term and expressed appreciation for his continued support to youth parliamentary initiatives. Subsequently, the Second Deputy Speakers presided over debate on the motion: “This Joint Sitting believes that technology has improved human relationships more than it has weakened them.” After extensive debate, a headcount vote confirmed that the motion was carried. The Speakers later announced arrangements for the 2026 YIP Trip to Parliament scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and addressed related logistical matters.
