My mother had made a vow because my brother’s wife is in the final months of pregnancy, which is an old tradition in our village. Using partially soaked and milled wheat prepared earlier, we cooked a large pot of charity food. We cleaned the house, washed the dishes, and when the food was ready, we shared it with the women of the village.
