This is evident in the Culture Ministry’s interference in the Sahitya Akademi, the cancellation of award announcements, and the denial of permission to screen foreign films at the International Film Festival of Kerala. Comrade M.A. Baby stresses the urgent need to build a broad democratic and cultural platform to defend freedom of thought, artistic expression, and India’s syncretic heritage.
