You can see my animation of Van Gogh reading this audio track here..    • Vincent van Gogh  "A Man of Passion" Liter...   The Letters of Vincent van Gogh refers to a collection of letters Vincent van Gogh wrote during his lifetime, primarily to his brother Theo van Gogh. The collection consists of 819 letters, more than 600 of which Vincent wrote to Theo.[3] The collection also includes letters van Gogh also wrote to his sister Wil and a single letter written to her friend Line Kruysse, as well as those to his artist friends Anthon van Rappard and Émile Bernard.[4] Vincent's sister-in-law and wife to his brother Theo, Johanna van Gogh-Bonger, spent many years after her husband's death in 1891 compiling the letters, which were published in 1914. Arnold Pomerans, van Gogh scholar and editor of the 1996 The Letters of Vincent van Gogh, writes that Theo "was the kind of man who saved even the smallest scrap of paper" and it is because of this tendency to save his brother's letters that we know so much is known about the artist. Moreover, Pomerans believes that the brothers modelled themselves after the de Goncourt brothers and that they likely knew the letters were of literary significance. As a whole, the letters represent a unified work of art the two brothers created together Vincent Willem van Gogh (Dutch: [ˈvɪnsɛnt ˈʋɪləɱ vɑŋ ˈɣɔχ] ( listen);[note 1] 30 March 1853 -- 29 July 1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color, had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died aged 37 from a gunshot wound, generally accepted to be self-inflicted (although no gun was ever found)][note His work was then known to only a handful of people and appreciated by fewer still.
