Ryuko-gakusha / Toshi Tsuchitori music archives Sanukaito Stone play at Mt.Aono / Toshi Tsuchitori Sanukaito is the stone which used for making important tools by people of the stone age (about 20000years ago) at west side of Japan. About 100years ago,the teacher of buddhist monk, Mr Nagao attracted this stone's resonance and try to used as buddhist music instrument. He has been collected numerous this stones by himself and after his death , this work is continue to his daughter Keiko Miyawaki. Toshi Tsuchitori was born at Kagawa province where this stone is founded. At 1984, The people of Kagawa demanded playing the stone which Mrs Miyawaki has. Then He came back to his home grand , Kagawa and there he have first concert with this sanukaito stone.after this first concert, Toshi play this stone at top of mountain Aono. This unfogettable playing is already legend. After his play , Sanukaito is popular to used for variouse music and concerts of contemporary musicians. Toshi Tsuchitori He started his music career as a percussionist and free improviser in the 1970s. Since then, he has been played with Milford Graves, Derek Bailey, Steve Lacy and other world musicians. In 1976 he started work with Peter Brook's international theater group as leading musician and worked on various projects including 'The Mahabharata' 'Tempest' 'Hamlet' etc. He has done extensive research on the world's ethnic music and dance, especially Asian and African. In the 1980s he presented three Japanese archeological music works, "Dōtaku; Ancient Japanese Bronze Bells from Yayoi Period (B.C.400-A.D. 250)", "Sanukaito; Stone sounds of the Paleolithic Era in Japan", "Jōmonko; Pottery Drums of Jōmon Period(B.C.3000-B.C. 2500)". He continues to searching for the roots of ancient Japanese music. Also he created Ryuko Gakusha(private art center)in 1988 with Harue Momoyama in Gujo Hachiman, Gifu Prefecture and has contributed vastly to the region's culture. 立光学舎/土取利行ミュージック・アーカイブ 「香川県青の山山頂でのサヌカイト演奏/土取利行」 1984年、土取利行の故郷である香川県で行われた初のサヌカイトコンサートから2年後の1986年夏に行われた青の山山頂での伝説的演奏の記録。 この演奏は旧石器人へのオマージュとして行われ、これはCFにもなり、ビクターよりCD『サヌカイト』としてリリース。現在は日本伝統文化振興財団より発売中。
