The Electras - Soul Searchin’ … unreleased take, recorded in 1966 There have been quite a few bands named The Electras over the years, including one that claimed Senator John Kerry as their bass player… sorry this is not that band. This band of Electras was an American garage rock band that formed in Ely, Minnesota, in 1962.... The group released six singles between 1965 and 1967 under two different names “The Electras”and “Twas’ Brillig”. The song featured in this video, “Soul Searchin”, is an alternate, unreleased take of the A-side of The Electras second single. … Over the years there has been some confusion over the Electras' relations with fellow Minneapolis group The Litter. Here’s what Wikipedia says about that, “A confusion over the Electras' relations with fellow Minneapolis group The Litter has prompted some record collectors to believe the two bands shared the same members. This was a result of Warren Kendrick producing both groups, and the Electras' recording one of the Litter's most accomplished and popular songs "Action Woman". The Electras' rendition included a baroque-pop-influenced instrumental intro that is not present in the Litter's version. In addition a compilation album, Rare Tracks, included the two groups together and mistakenly claimed in the sleeve notes that Warren Kendrick "used the Litter musicians to also record some obscure singles under the name 'Twas Brillig, Electras... The truth is, other than having the same producer and record label, the two bands had no correlation between each other.”... In 2010, the Electras were inducted into the Mid-America Music Hall of Fame.
