(4 Dec 2016) Representatives from India and Afghanistan wrapped a regional conference on Sunday with calls to crack-down on state-supported terrorism. Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai made the comments at the end of the Heart of Asia initiative, which was launched in November 2011 to coordinate global efforts to reconstruct war-ravaged Afghanistan. Without naming Pakistan, both Indian and Afghan ministers urged their neighbour to stop offering shelter and support to militants who commit violence in the region. New Delhi has long been trying to gather international support for its own concerns about militants who it says cross the border from Pakistan into Indian-administered Kashmir. Pakistan denies the allegation. The initiative is supported by the United States and around 20 other countries.
