Woodturning - Maple burl bowl.

Hi, welcome to the channel. In this video I take a maple burl cap and make a bowl/platter on the woodturning lathe. I began by drilling a hole, roughly centre of the thickest bit, I then mounted it to the jaws with a worm screw. Originally I wanted to mount this piece with a tenon but on the fly that changed to a mortice. After flipping the piece and formed the bowl I wanted to create a ripple detail in the wood but also keep a strip of the bandsaw cut edge. This took some time but a freshly sharpened gouge and lots of hand sanding it was acceptable. Shellac and wax finish and we're good to go!
