Understanding Trauma and the Impact on Learning Part 1 | TAP Online Free Trainings for Educators

The first in a 3-part series on trauma, developed for educators and school communities everywhere. Register for this and other Boston Children’s Hospital TAP Online free trainings at http://www.childrenshospital.org/TAPo...   This three-part series discusses neurological factors, effect on behavior and learning, as well as supports that schools can provide to students who have experienced a traumatic event.   The first training in this series provides definitions related to trauma and focuses on the effect trauma may have on the various parts of the brain and how this impacts learning. It also features interviews with B. Heidi Ellis, PhD, the Director of the Refugee Trauma and Resilience Center at Boston Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.   A certificate of completion and access to additional resources are provided at the end of the training.
