Budhanilkantha Temple | Narayanthan Mandir Budhanilkantha statue is believed to be of 7th century and the largest stone statue of Lord Bishnu. Water observed in the pond of Budhanilkantha Mandir is believed to have come from Gosainkunda lake, from where the Lord Shiva quenched his burning throat; which happened; when he drank the poison created during the struggle between god and devils. That's why this temple is named as Buda Nila Kantha. The shadow of Lord Shiva can be seen beside the statue of Lord Bishnu in the special occasions dedicated to Lord Shiva. So, this temple is referred as the common temple of Lord Bishnu an Lord Shiva.
