The first time you enter the Burning Steppes, you likely felt impressed and in awe : the region is indeed a dangerous place ! You may access the Blackrock Mountain (south entrance) via the Burning Steppes and back then, during the Vanilla/Classic WoW era, the region was the only land passage from Stormwind to Kahz Modan and Lordaeron. It is a popular route but also a risky one : the mobs there are around level 50 as the zone is intended for players between level 50 to 58 ! The region is mainly ruled by the Dark Iron Dwarves and by the agents of the infamous Ragnaros. Everything looks kind of reddish here, even the sky, as the Blackrock Mountains sometimes erupts ! There’s also lava lakes and lava flows, home to some elementals mobs. You may also encounter black dragons in the Burning Steppes, as the region is the homeland of the Black Dragonflight. As the Burning Steppes region borders the Blackrock Mountain, it was fairly popular even though flying to the Taurium Point in the Searing Gorge, up north, to reach the entrance of Blackrock Mountain was quicker.
