For those who can’t bear to watch R7 bonking R8, you can ignore this video. *** End of Warning *** After Ron delivered the fish, this 10-minute video showed how Rose fed R8 under the threat of R7’s bonking. In order for R8 to eat under the threat of R7, the following factors has to be met: (1) R8 has to eat fast and eat in chunks. (2) R8 has to develop skills to feed itself. (3) Rose has to navigate R7’s outburst and continue to be patient. (4) R7 has to be in food coma. In this 10-minute video, it shows (1), (3), and (4). Two hours earlier, R8 attempted to do (2). As a third-year mom, Rose has done a great job navigating the dynamics between R7 and R8. I saw the dynamics of R1 and R2 during the 2022 nesting season. Compare with R7 and R8, R1’s bonking was way worse than R7’s bonking. Based on the experience of watching R1 and R2 grow up and fledge. I have no doubt both R7 and R8 will thrive.
