Morella is an extraordinary example of a Gothic city and has been declared an Site of Cultural Interest. The castle was built by the Iberians atop a rock, the fortress was particularly important in the Muslim period. Its walls are two and a half kilometres long and have 14 towers and six gateways, among which the Gothic gateway of San Pedro stands out. It consists of several parts, among which the Governor's Palace, the prisons, the parade ground or Celoquia tower are worth mentioning. The castle was a prison during the Middle Ages. It was declared an Historic-Artistic Monument by Decree on 3 June 1931. The castle, which dominates an ocean of mountains, has been one of the most impressive fortresses in the Mediterranean and Saint Vincent Ferrer, El Cid, James I and Pope Luna have been some of its illustrious visitors. Es un extraordinario ejemplo de ciudad gótica y está declarada Bien de Interés Cultural. Su castillo fue edificado por los íberos sobre una roca, la fortaleza tuvo mucha relevancia en época musulmana. Sus murallas miden dos kilómetros y medio y tienen 14 torres y seis puertas, entre las que destaca la gótica de San Pedro. Consta de varias dependencias, entre las que cabe mencionar el Palacio del Gobernador, las prisiones, la plaza de armas o la torre Celoquia. El castillo fue prisión durante la Edad Media. Declarado Monumento Histórico-Artístico por el Decreto del 3 de junio de 1931.
