Common Ground: A Story of Community-Company Dispute Resolution in Uganda

This short film documents outcomes from a CAO dispute resolution process in Uganda following the displacement of local communities from forest reserves for a commercial timber plantation. Agreements reached through dialogue between the affected communities and forestry company resulted in the establishment of community cooperatives and purchase of land to resettle several hundred households. Joint development initiatives between the company and community have also supported agricultural projects, the construction of a school and community health clinic, tree planting, and other income-generation projects.
