We examine some Victorian women’s boots in our Artifact Corner today. https://www.kentdelordhouse.org/ Hi everyone and welcome back to another artifact corner. Today we will be looking at these lovely late Victorian women’s boots that likely belonged to Fannie Delord Webb Hall. They are made entirely of leather, including the stacked heels. The soles are also made of multiple layers of leather. These are shoes meant for women on the move, they were durable, provided a good amount of ankle support and had sturdy soles. They stand in sharp contrast to women’s shoes from earlier in the 19th Century. Let’s learn a bit more about women’s shoes in their evolution in the 1800’s.
