Over the last ten years, the 10X10 Photography Project shined a light on a vibrant and diverse queer community, thanks to the efforts of its founder and curator James Fowler. For each iteration, the project featured 100 new portraits of LGBTQI arts and cultural figures in Canada as seen through the lenses of ten queer lens-based artists. Previously a staple of visual arts programming at the Gladstone Hotel during Pride Toronto celebrations, 10X10 was proudly hosted by the Art Gallery of Mississauga for its tenth and final instalment. This year’s exhibition included work by Thomas Brasch, Kim Fullerton, Ashley Iris Gill, Vince Ha, Kalmplex, Wade Muir, Public Studio, Jason Perreault, Joshua Rille, and John Rubino. Last month James Fowler and AGM Curator Shannon Anderson sat down to discuss the intricassies and importance of 10X10 over the years.
