Game: Master Duel (Steam) Season: 50 (Feb/26) Event: Duel Trial - Time Travel 2012 00:00 vs. Chaos Dragon [1] 05:08 vs. Gadget 08:18 vs. Chaos Dragon [2] 12:29 Decklist 1 12:55 Decklist 2 I could not help but feel all the modern vices of Yu-Gi-Oh! had a inflection point around this format, making the game pace quicker with tiny combos, as making it more aggressive and more luck-dependent. Limited cards often felt like cheat cards on how game-changing were in most cases. My guess is they were trying to make the game less predictably and thus less likely to bore the players since you don't always know what to expect, even if you are going ahead. Pretty much like your classic tabletop board game, I suppose. There is the issue, thou, were you might open with an awful hand and there is no mechanic to fix the hand to make it at least playable. Amazoness were not really competitive here, unfortunately, but that did not stop me from enjoying them the best I could. The win-rate was slightly below 50%. Amazoness were clearly left behind with the new mechanics and effects of the era, lacking their own Synchros and Xyz monsters, as effects other cards and archetypes got; like multiple special summons per turn and interruptions. I played two versions of the deck: the first, making use of Heirloom for its soft protection and destruction effect upon attacking, along with Gold Sarcophagus and Tragoedia. The second version was after realizing the Amazoness were often lacking attack boost to beat over the opponent's monsters, so I tried here an ATK-boost approach, removing Gold Sarc and Tragoedia, since this monster most of the time was not really doing anything other than sponging one attack, and I also added United We Stand and The A. Forces. The win-rate for both were similar, but I enjoyed the second one better since I could play with the Queen and the Queen's Pawn trap; a trap whose artwork I like and because I also wanted to make that artwork canon by summoning Trainee with it after destroying a monster with Queen, which happened at 6:14. Despite the Queen being the boss monster, I often found myself with game-states where I could tribute summon her but I did not, since the small lv4 Amazoness were most of the time either more convenient or safer to have instead. Sage: pops spell/trap's upon attacking Trainee: monsters that destroys are sent to the bottom of the deck instead of grave, making it useful against monsters like Sangan, Card Trooper and Zoma the Spirit, besides boosting her own attack upon destroying them. Swords Woman: her bouncing damage effect was the win-con in a couple of duels. Chain Master: her effect when destroyed in battle and sent to grave to look at the opponent's hand and steal a monster from it was useful a couple of times, like removing strong monsters like Black Luster Soldier, or annoying ones like Tragoedia, or some level 4 so to use it as a mat for a rank 4 Xyz. The Synchros in the Extra were meant in case I got a tuner from the opponent either by Chain Master's or Tragoedia's effect, or by Monster Reborn. Never summoned them though. The field spell, which is essential for the deck, has a "missing the timing" issue due the effect being a "when" instead of an "if". I actually lost a duel because the opponent made it miss the timing by activating a non-destructive effect first, then chaining it with the destructive effect (to not miss the timing, the destruction of the Amazoness must happen on chain-link 1). By the way, chain-4 MST's at 5:23. May that be a sign Radiant Typhoon is coming soon to MD? 🙃
