Why was it never shown/finished? TVNZ commissioning editors creating problems? An ambitious project, does Nga Taonga know about it? It could become one of their treasures, just look the characters: John Rangihou! Whina Cooper! Cliff Whiting! Barry Crump, M Smithers, a young Guy Salmond, Costeau, etc. etc. - 35 years ago! Great footage, the environmental, scientific, philosophical and artistic dimensions well inter-woven and the message as relevant as ever. So much in it. Have you ever thought about doing an interview with Guy Salmond now, the old man, looking back at the young one, the idealism of the time, revisiting, summing up what's been achieved and what not, life as a journey, NZ now, 2021? Anyhow, I suppose at some stage you may have mulled over all that... ... I will keep you in the loop and talk some more when in Welly next, in about 4 weeks time. Hope you are enjoying the Wellington weather!!! Best w Gerd Pohlmann Wow Barry- we have been looking everywhere for those. You are a champion. Will get some one to get in touch. You have made my day! Lou Lou Sanson Loved watching it again. Brought back so many memories! Hi Barry, Gerry Gerry McSweeney We are in Golden Bay with a good internet connection for the first time in years. My wife Anne saunders and i finally got to watch HeartlanNZ for the first time. What an extraordinary historical record even though I felt very much in the minority amongst all those people who have passed on..... Alan Mark's 90th birthday is on June 19th in Dunedin. I know the story was that DOC didn't use the 50 minute doco and neither did TVNZ but it is very good and as relevant today as it was then. It would be so good to show young DOC staff where the department came from. What happened to all the many other hours of filming that you did? I remember many hours of interviews in your Cuba STreet office. Great to keep in touch through facebook but it would be nice to meet again sometime. Kind wisheswork th Gerry Gerry Gerry I might share the HeartlaNZ youtube link on my Facebook feed but it would be nice to also have the backstory as to what distribution the Doco had or didn't have. Gerry Gerry McSweeney Lou Sanson shared the Youtube link with me only a week ago.
