Grade II Abbeville is better known to the people of Whitby, sailors who have used the port and now followers from all over the world, as “The Little Yellow Cottage" Abbeville was probably built around 1770, although a window of twenty years, either way, would probably be prudent. Some of her walls are hand made bricks and both mortar and rendering (plaster) are lime-based, some of it mixed with animal hair. Her floors, beams and supports are mostly made from wood although some alien materials have been added over the years; these have been replaced where possible to more fitting alternatives allowing her to continue to watch over the harbour for years to come.
