Thirlmere's Festival of Steam 2024 Transport Heritage NSW Hello all, Welcome to an Over the Border special, hopefully the last in this sequence. Today we make our return to Thirlmere for one day of the annual Festival of Steam, centred around the NSW Rail Museum. The Festival of Steam is hosted by both Transport Heritage NSW and the Wollondilly Shire Council and brings a two-day extravaganza of steam to the region. Taking the spotlight is the operation of four of the heritage fleet locomotives. Locomotives 3001, 3265, 3526 and 6029 all had a fire in their fireboxes as three of them ran shuttles up and down the Loop line while one gave cab visits. 3001 and 3265 were paired in top and tail to run the Buxton shuttles, and 6029 with ALCo diesel 4001 operated the shuttles to Picton. In this video, we capture the events around Thirlmere’s township, seeing the events that occurred on the Sunday. We begin with capturing a few of the shuttle trains around the area, then see parts of the parade that marched down the main street. After this, we wander through the museum, which are highlights in the video. To finish off we capture the last shuttle departures from Thirlmere to Braxton and Picton.
