Sacred Journeys S2 Ep1 Blessing the River Avon in Malmesbury

In the first episode of the second series of Sacred Journeys, Kelly Peacey and Rev Helen James join a Winter Solstice Blessing of the River Avon in Malmesbury in Wiltshire. It was filmed on 20th December 2024 - on Harmony Day - an initiative started by Dowser Rory Duff. According to the work of John Michell and John Gibson-Forty, Malmesbury Abbey is on one of the Perpetual Choir Lines. This particular line flows from the Whiteleaved Oak area passing through the Seven Wells at Bisley (see Series One Episode 3 of Sacred Journeys on this channel), St Mary's at Alton Barnes (close to the source of the Salisbury Avon) through Woodhenge and ending at Amesbury Abbey near Stonehenge. Kelly and Helen interview the Bards of Avalon about this powerful time for manifesting. Helen, who filmed and edited the video, also interviews Kate Dineen - a Shamanic Practitioner - who led the ceremony by the River Avon to honour water. Many Mayors and former Mayors and Councillors were present, along with people of many different faiths, Druids, Buddhists, Ceremonialists - a beautiful eclectic mix who are campaigning to clean up our rivers and force the Water Companies who pump sewerage into our rivers, and farmers dumping chemicals, to clean up their act. Amesbury Abbey with Glastonbury Abbey and Llantwit Major were the three main centres of Perpetual Choirs in Britain involving 2,400 druids or monks who chanted on a continuous rota basis, 100 at a time, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, with the aim of healing and enchanting the land.
