A look behind the scenes at... Custody

Our next feature in our behind the scenes series takes a look at Custody. It's part of policing that most of you (hopefully!) won't otherwise see. Put simply, custody is where someone is normally taken to after arrest - it's not the same as prison, it's where people are 'booked in' and processed after being arrested and before being charged or released. We know it can be quite a stressful thing to go through so we place a lot of emphasis on making it as easy as possible for all concerned and look into what support we can give or where we can signpost someone to, to avoid them having to end up in custody again! Nicola and Libby show you around the inside of one of our custody suites (we have three, Middlewich, Blacon and Runcorn) and how custody operations fits into policing in Cheshire.
