In todays video I am taking a look at the Epson Moverio BT-200 augmented reality (AR) glasses. To get this out of the way - I am not being paid by Epson nor is this a sponsored video. These are a demo pair that Epson sent me but that is the only connection here. in short, THESE ARE FANTASTIC - I was incredibly impressed with the Epson BT-300 glasses at Interdrone, and those will be released soon. The BT-200 are the prior version but I wanted to get a video out on these to show you what Epson is doing and how you can use FPV glasses and still comply with VLOS requirements set out by the FAA. The BT-200 take an HDMI input, the BT-300 have an android device that they use. One thing for me that makes these so much better than any other AR glass out there is the fact that they are binocular with a screen on each eye and transparent. I tried some of the single / monocular screens and they gave me eye strain almost immediately and made it very difficult to see the screen and your drone at the same time. With the Epson models it is very natural and the screen is fantastic without any of the associated eye strain being experienced. At Interdrone - Epson and DJI announced a partnership to work closely together (From the EPSON Press Release) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recently Epson announced a partnership with DJI, to create new solutions for the Epson Moverio smart glasses and DJI's suite of products and software development kit (SDK) that enhance the safety, productivity and capabilities of UAVs for hobbyists and professionals alike. As one of the first initiatives of the partnership, DJI will optimize the DJI GO app for the Epson Moverio BT-300 AR smart glasses, due to be launched in various markets in late 2016. With the app and the Moverio glasses, drone pilots will be able to see crystal clear, transparent first person views (FPV) from the drone camera while simultaneously maintaining their line of sight with their aircraft. The DJI GO app works with the DJI Phantom, Inspire and Matrice series flying platforms as well as the Osmo handheld gimbal and camera. In certain markets the two companies will co-market the Moverio BT-300 as a certified DJI accessory, along with the DJI GO app. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The a look at the previous video I did about the BT-300's as well. This technology is definitely a place to keep an eye on.
