Is the High Guard Dead? It seems more and more, top level and advanced strikers across combat sports lower their guard. This enables a few main advantages, namely more smooth and reflexive mobility and the ability to manipulate distances more. Of course speed, agility, and experience are needed or it's gonna be a short night. Enjoy a few clips from some of my favorite to take what your coach taught you about a guard, and throw it out the window. Also, the man at the front of the video is Scott "Bam Bam" Sullivan, my first Muay Thai teacher. Scott is as legit as they come and a huge influence on my martial arts journey. I put him at the top of the video, not as a slight, but as a nod to the man that first taught me how to kick ass. Here's to you Scott.
