Around 2 weeks ago, the couple consulted a few vets regarding their Chow Chow's closed infected eyes. They diagnosed entropion in both eyes but did not do entropion surgery. They consulted me at Toa Payoh Vets which provided the service. The Chow Chow was adopted via a website. 2 weeks ago, I took a a blood test and he had increase in total white cells and neutrophils suggestive of a blood infection. He was very nervous as he could barely see me and so I had to sedate him to take blood. He given antibiotics for 10 days. "He is more active nowadays," the couple said to me yesterday when the Chow Chow came in for surgery. He was not so excitable now as he could see a bit. Under general anaesthesia, both upper and lower eyelids were everted as they had rolled in 180 degrees with the eyelashes traumatizing the two corneas of two eyes. So he had corneal ulcers in both eyes as the eyelashes were around 3 mm long and sharp. This video shows he can open his eyes normally one hour post op. He has been neutered and is on pain killers. His owner had just come in and will bring him home for recuperation. The facial folds were not that prominent. In some cases, these facial or nasal folds need to be excised as well. This was not done.
