This is the deposition of an ER nurse who served as an expert witness for one of the nurse defendants in a medical malpractice case. This is part 1 of 2. You can find part 2 here:    • Deposition of Nurse Expert in $5.2 Million...   Our client was a 49-year-old man who went to the emergency room after injuring his knee and leg. Doctors at the emergency department took some x-rays, diagnosed him with a knee sprain, and sent him home. Two days later he is rushed back to the ER for the same injury. The doctors ultimately have to amputate his leg because doctors failed to discover damage to his popliteal artery in his initial ER visit. We brought a medical malpractice action against the doctors in Baltimore City. After a hard-fought trial, the jury awarded our client $5.2 million. The client, a very good man, was kind enough to allow us to share depositions from his case to help educate others. This turned into a contentious deposition. Defense counsel instructed the witness not to answer a line of questions regarding the applicable standard of care for the last person at the hospital to examine the plaintiff. This eventually prompted a motion to compel the witness to answer. Ultimately, the nurse was not a defendant at trial. We felt the case against the ER doctor at the PA was very strong.
