The St Boniface area of Winnipeg is great area for railfanning, as there are 6 separate railway lines divided among 4 different railways, with plenty of industrial trackage to go around. On March 22, 2016, I caught trains on two of these lines, namely the CP Emerson Subdivision, and CN St Boniface Spur. In case you are interested, the CN St Boniface Spur used to be part of the CN Sprague Subdivision and was part of the Canadian Northern Railway main line! Amazing how part of a main line can deteriorate into a 3-mile spur. Train 1: Southbound CP Tank Train on Emerson Subdivision (CP 512?) - 5:30 PM (0:00) With a Clear Signal to cross the CN St Boniface Lead, a CP tank train starts it's journey out of Winnipeg, heading south on the Emerson Subdivison, heading towards the US Border. CP 9832 - AC44CW CP 8870 - ES44AC Cars: 106 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Train 2: Southbound CN Mixed Freight on St Boniface Lead - 5:57 PM (6:27) On the opposite side of the spectrum, a CN Mixed Freight finishes it's journey, going south on the St Boniface Lead and crossing the CP Emerson Subdivision on it's way to Symington Yard. Love the sound of those rail joints! Interesting, this catch comes exactly 1 year after my first ever catch on this track. CN 8014 - SD70M-2 CN 2000 - C40-8 Cars: 77
