The Supreme Court, largely stacked with judges loyal to President Robert Mugabe, ruled late on Thursday in favour of a government appeal banning those who hold dual citizenship from voting, and disqualifying many whites and tens of thousands of black farm workers from neighbouring countries. But for many citizens in the capital Harare, their prime concern is getting one meal per day on the table. Economic and social collapse has brought the country on the brink of starvation. Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, 49, visited the industrial districts in Harare on Friday, strongholds of his labour-backed opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). Several thousand supporters showed up at his gathering. The MDC frontman promised victory and economic recovery. In his last day on the campaign trail, President Mugabe, 78, toured his ruling party Zanu PF's rural strongholds north of Harare. Some 10 thousand supporters showed up and heard their president thanking other African nations for their solidarity at the recent Commonwealth leader's summit in Australia. Mugabe also said that the MDC will be "buried" in these elections. The voting stations open on Saturday at 5 gmt. Ballot boxes were being transported on Friday afternoon to polling stations around the country.
