Koffi. Seeds of Resistance: Historic Peasant Exchange in West Africa

Where seeds are born, resistance takes root It is in this spirit of resistance and renewal that we launched a two-week peasant-to-peasant exchange program, bringing together movements from Colombia, Mali, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Guinea, Ghana, Senegal, Sudan and Tunisia. Traveling 1,200 km through Togo and Benin, participants will exchange knowledge, strengthen solidarity, and visit agroecological farms and community experiences, reinforcing the vital role of South–South collaboration in safeguarding the world’s agricultural biodiversity. Grounded in the daily practices through which communities defend their right to seeds, this exchange aims to build change from the bottom up—fortifying collective power to push states toward policies that respect, protect, and support peasants’ rights and agroecological transitions.
