This has to be one of the most talked about questions recruiters get every day. “How can I join as an officer?” A lot of people fail to realize that the requirement for officers are vastly different compared to the enlisted side so let’s talk about it! Starting off you must be a US Citizen (non-waiverable) That means you can’t be a green card holder or foreign national. Next to commission, you must be between the ages of 20-28 (commission before your 28th birthday) waivers are available on a case by case basis. Most importantly you MUST have a bachelors degree to be eligible OR be a full time student at a regionally or nationally accredited college or university To be COMPETITIVE you must have at a MINIMUM: SAT: 100 (math/reading combined) ACT: 22 AFQT[ASVAB] 74 Again these are the bare minimums and if you have these, you’re not very competitive so remember that. Lastly Marine Officers are very physically fit, generally scoring a 285+ on their PFT and 295+ on their CFT’s. That means if you’re not physically fit, you’re not going to qualify.
