Aimee and Kirsty, a same-sex couple from Leeds, had both wanted to foster since they were young. During lockdown, they decided to “bite the bullet” and finally start the journey with Orange Grove. Four years on, they’ve welcomed children from different cultures and religions into their home, adapting everything from food and haircare to cultural celebrations so each young person feels truly included and valued. They also share how Orange Grove’s training, 24/7 support and foster carer community have helped them grow in confidence – and why they’re proud to keep in touch with the children who’ve moved on but still hold a place in their hearts.
