In this video I tested a bunch of items at 7-Eleven, from cold noodle to Bento box to sushi to cream filled bun to some of the most unique ice cream I've ever tested. 7-Eleven is the biggest convenience store chain in China and they are really good at making the life of locals "convenient", so that means 7-eleven has main food offering specific to China. I've tested the food and Family Mart and Lawson, and today, we are going to see how 7-Eleven stacks up against its competitors. I started out with a peachy soda water (元氣森林白桃味氣泡水 CNY5.5), light peach flavor and really refreshing. Then I tried the 10 flavor sushi set (Gunkan-maki) 十味軍艦捲 CNY16.8, 10 different flavors of rice roll. All fairly quality and my favorite is the one with imitation crab. Next is the Taiwanese cold sesame noodle 台式麻醬涼麵 CNY10.8. This one is very good. Chewy bouncy noodle, and fragrant sesame sauce. Must-try in the summer. Then I tasted the Egg cheese ham sandwich CNY12.8. Quite tasty with creamy egg and flavorful danish toast. I like it a lot. Moving on to the hot items, the red braised beef over rice 紅燒牛腩飯 CNY16.8 was very nice. Good amount of beef, very tender and flavorful, but it's a bit too sweet for me. The rice was good for microwave food and the side dishes were pretty good, especially the egg stir-fried with tomato. I also wanted to try the Cantonese rice roll 双醬腸粉 CNY10.8 from 7-eleven because I haven't seen it in other convenience store. It was just rice noodle roll with 2 sauce pack. But it was really tasty. The rice noodle was soft slippery but a bit chewy. The sauces were amazing as well. Deep oyster sauce flavor combined with creamy nutty sesame sauce. Top notch! For desserts, I tried the beach crisps 黃桃脆片CNY6.9. Good quality dried peach crisps. Nothing special tho. The green tea bun 抹茶火山包 CNY8 on the other hand, was exceptional. Soft fluffy bun with Mocha cream in side. It's like eating a soft pillow filled with creamy mocha cloud. Highly recommended. I also tried the Ovaltine pancake 阿華甜班戟 CNY11, soft chewy skin with creamy smooth cream and a big pieces of banana inside. I'm not a big fan of banana based desserts, but I've got to say this one is pretty good. For ice cream, I tried one of ice cream flavor that had gain tremendous amount of fans recently. It's the big squid and milk flavor from 李大橘 (非吃不可大魷魚, CNY8). This one truly knock my socks off. Strangely delicious. I don't know why but it somehow hits all the right spot for me. I really really love it. You can taste the dried squid flavor, a little salty, oceany, umami, and a bit of chewy with chucks of squid inside. Pairing it with creamy milky ice cream. OMG, this is got to be one of my favor ice cream in the world. Overall it was a very satisfying experience. I can't wait for 2nd round of convenience store tour.
