Sizdeh Badr is a traditional Iranian festival that takes place on the thirteenth day of Farvardin the last day of the Nowruz holiday on this day villagers go out into nature celebrate together and rejoice We are simple village folk and like our ancestors we honor this day by stepping outside breathing in the fresh air and enjoying nature’s blessings they say if you stay indoors on Sizdeh Badr bad luck clings to you so we do as our forefathers did we gather together celebrate this day and embrace the beauty around us One of our traditions is to let the Nowruz greenery sabzeh flow into the river because it takes away misfortune and makes way for happiness young ones tie knots in the grass whispering wishes for love and joy. This year we made the day even more special we caught fish from the pond washed them in the cool clear water of the river and cooked them over an open fire with a rich fragrant sauce when the fish was ready my sister and I sat down and ate together it was delicious tender smoky and full of flavor. The fresh air the warmth of the fire and the taste of the fish made for a perfect day sometimes the simplest things bring the greatest joy.
