The Diocese of Mumbai extends a wholehearted and joyous welcome to His Beatitude Aboon Mor Baselios Joseph Catholicos, the newly elevated spiritual leader of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in India, as he undertakes his first canonical visit to the faithful in this metropolitan region. This historic visit represents a significant moment of spiritual significance for the Orthodox Christian community in Mumbai and the surrounding regions. His Beatitude, who was elevated to the esteemed position of Catholicos on March 25, 2025, brings with him decades of devoted ecclesiastical service and pastoral leadership within the Church. The Diocese of Mumbai has made extensive preparations to receive His Beatitude with the honor, reverence, and devotion befitting his exalted ecclesiastical position. A welcome committee comprising three hundred and one dedicated members has been established under the able leadership of Fr. Mathews Chalappuram (Chairman), Fr. Joseph Vazhayil (General Convener), Fr. Binoy Nellikkathuruthel (General Secretary), and other dedicated church officials to ensure that all reception programs and related arrangements are conducted with the utmost dignity and spiritual solemnity.
