Shortage of skilled workers in Africa – Swiss woman brings vocational training to Rwanda Until the pandemic, Jackie Helfenberger ran a language travel agency in Switzerland. When traveling became difficult, she switched gears. Today she runs a vocational school in Rwanda with the aim of establishing vocational training in Africa. Even a generation after the Genocide Against The Tutsi, in which around a million people were killed in the mid-1990s, the consequences are still being felt. Today, the country not only lacks skilled workers, but also trainers. This is where Jackie Helfenberger's aid project comes in: she brings know-how from Switzerland and enables young people from Rwanda to receive training for free. Swiss TV accompanies the Swiss woman to the graduation ceremony for the first 120 graduates of her school. Also taking part is a group of young bakers from Switzerland who want to pass on their bread baking skills to local colleagues.
