Rival Gang Members In Counseling Session Inside Maximum-Security Juvenile Prison

In this video from our archive, our cameras had exclusive access to film teenagers inside a maximum-security juvenile prison who were rival gang members living side by side. The prison had a special cell unit called the GROW program--Gang Realities in Our World--which forced rival gang members to go through counseling and educational programs together to realize all the commonalities they had in their lives. The video starts with prison program directors and prison guards discussing what the program is like and who is involved, and then our cameras have exclusive access to film an actual counseling session as teen gang members sit side by side and discuss all the issues that got them locked up together. The teens also discuss the challenges they faced at home and in their neighborhoods, and who they considered role models in their lives.
