The sounds of a Dominion Orchestral reed organ made in 1910: This is a reed organ made by the Dominion Piano & Organ Co. in Bowmanville, Ontario Canada in 1910. Dominion made many various styles of reed organs and were one of the main leaders in Canada making consistent and quality instruments up to the 1910s. After 1910, the quality declined as the market wained. They were established in 1870, and made reed organs until 1930. Finally, they filed for bankruptcy in 1936. The tune “All is Well” (according to the Hymnary.org), was credited to C. Dingley in Revival Melodies of 1842, before it appeared in The Sacred Harp of 1844, where it was attributed to J.T. White. The editors of The Makers of the Sacred Harp (2010) consider White to be the arranger, not the composer; Dingley is perhaps also just an arranger. So the exact composer remains unknown. The author of the text is William Clayton, born July 17, 1814, Penwortham, Lancashire, England and died December 4, 1879, in Salt Lake City, Utah. I originally posted this video to YouTube in 2015 as part of a reed tour series, but it has been recently requested that I make it more visible as its own video.
