FARD CULTURAL FESTIVAL 2026 FONI AGENCY FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT CELEBRATES 5TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL PREAMBLE THE FONI AGENCY FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT, FARD, HAS CONCLUDED ITS FIFTH ANNUAL CULTURAL FESTIVAL, HELD UNDER THE THEME “CELEBRATE WHAT CONNECTS US.” THE EVENT DREW HUNDREDS OF RESIDENTS, FAMILIES, AND VISITORS TO THE HEART OF FONI. STORY Drums reverberated across Somita and surrounding communities as people from diverse ethnic backgrounds gathered in a colourful celebration of unity, tradition, and cultural pride. Known for its rich heritage and strong farming traditions, Foni came alive with vibrant dances, rhythmic performances, and a renewed sense of togetherness. ACTUALITY… Over the years, the FARD Cultural Festival has grown into an important annual event, providing a platform for community engagement, advancing socio-economic development across Foni Activities such as the Walk4Health, free health screenings, and blood donations punctuated the festival as organisers move to promote healthy living while strengthening social cohesion. ACTUALITY… At the official opening ceremony, the Chief of Foni Berefet, Junkung Camara, welcomed delegates and participants to the district, urging communities across Foni to continue using the festival as a tool to foster unity and peaceful coexistence. VOICE…. FARD Vice Chairperson, Mariama Jammeh, highlighted the line-up of activities for this year’s edition and expressed appreciation to partners and stakeholders for their support in making the festival a success.
