This is the first leg travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok. This video featuring bus journey from KL to Pengkalan Hulu in the northern state of Perak, Malaysia which involved approximately 5 hour journey. This bus was delayed where it departed at 11.40am and arrived at 5pm. The journey pass through some hills around the Perak state and forest around Kuala Kangsar and Gerik before reaching the remote Pengkalan Hulu town. Cost of bus ticket from Kajang to Pengkalan Hulu was RM50 from Kajang, about 30km away from KL but due to some issues with the bus, all passengers from that town was transferred to KL which was booked through cosmicexpress.com.my. From Pengkalan Hulu, there was no regular transport services to get to the Malaysian Immigration and the best option is to hire a taxi which can be engaged by asking around people around town where I paid RM20 for the trip. As I walked around, there was a coffeeshop next to Maybank (a Malaysian bank) where the owner could help to get the taxi service to the immigration control. If you get to the Malaysian Immigration with a taxi, you don't need to get down from it as the taxi will pass through the immigration booth for vehicles and the driver will pass the documents to the officer to be stamped and you are good to go. The driver will drop you off not far from the Thai Immigration which is a walking distance. Once stamped into Thailand, there are many motorbike taxis that will be waiting and you can hop into anyone of them for THB100 to get to the Betong city.
